It’s to share a simple tool for creating drawing grids (Dürer grids) that I created this site (quick presentation video).
This application allows you to check digitized images that you have on your computer or tablet as jpeg files. I called her NetGrid, and for simplicity, I kept this name for the site.
If you are working from a paper model (photo, printer output, magazine extract), I have also developed netgridCalc.
NetgridCalc is a grid calculator which quickly gives you the values to be transferred to your model and to your drawing sheet.
NetGrid is a web application to generate drawing grids or Dürer grids.
The simplest technique to faithfully reproduce an illustration is to use a grid that is drawn on the model and on the copy in order to transfer the important points without risk of error..
They are also called Dürer grids because it seems that he was the inventor.
Dürer lived in the 15th century.
On the fact, create a grid by hand does not seem very complicated.
The reality is quite different, especially when the dimensions of the model and the drawing are different and if you are not comfortable with the cross-multiplication and the calculations of proportions.
And in any case, it's always a bit of a headache.
It is to facilitate this task that I created NetGrid.
NetGrid present as web application.
To shorten it, a web application is a small piece of software that uses an internet browser as a medium (Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc).
The big advantage, is that it can work on all platforms (Mac computers, PC or Ipad tablets, Android, etc).
The NetGrid app is free and without registration, intuitive and with interesting functions such as image rotation and vertical perspective correction.

I have more than 30 years of professional experience in this field and I have a lot to share and transmit.
Without going into too much detail, I had the chance to follow the whole evolution of computer science in the graphic arts and to make it my profession.
I followed the whole era of the first floppy Macs that made printers laugh with rudimentary drawing software like MacPaint, to current workstations connected to servers that manage terabytes of data.

In my articles, I will talk a lot about drawing, since the Dürer grids were at the origin of this site.
But as much to say it right away, this is not a new site on drawing techniques.
I am a simple autodidact and I have no pretension in this field.
There are very good sites, very professional that I look at and consult with great interest.
I plan to present them to you, as and when I discover.
And then, I will also tell you about the photo, painting, editing, printing techniques, optical, paper format, computer science and above all do not be surprised if from time to time I will take the liberty of being a little off topic. The spirit is a long river not really calm.
